store B vintage & Harry Rosenfeld Handbags

David Ginople of  store B vintage in Chicago’s Wicker Park neighborhood has recently acquired a plethora of vintage handbags created by American designer, Harry Rosenfeld.  Many of Rosenfeld’s pieces were design collaborations with jeweler Kenneth Jay Lane.

Many of these handbags will be featured at Modern Vintage Chicago Spring Fashion & Jewels event this coming weekend, April 16-17th, 10am-5pm, at 1340 W. Washington Street in Chicago.

(2) Saffian leather, structured evening bags with beaded handles, embellished with jewel-encrusted, figural Jaguar handles designed by famed jewelry designer, Kenneth Jay Lane; c. 1960s


Large floral needlepoint  box bag with leather trim and luggage strap detailing (needlepoint panels on both sides); c. 1960s


Large black patent handbag, fitted on either side with coin purses; c. 1970


Black patent bag with lucite “bamboo” shaped handles and matching center knob closure; c. 1960s


Black raffia shoulder bag with removable strap and large alternative carrying rings & buckle closure; c. 1970s


Black & white stencil spotted calf hair shoulder bag fitted with lion medallion; c. 1970


Saddle pigskin doctor’s bag with latched jewel case; c. 1970s


Gold minaudiere evening case, made in Italy, embellished with large rosette reliefs on either side, fitted with gold velvet interior lining and a chained strap; c. 1960s (Note: We believe that the original owner used this piece to accessorize a beaded sheath dress that was custom-made in Hong Kong c. 1960)


Green leather structured handbag with lucite “bamboo” handle; c. 1960s


Red pressed leather (alligator skin style) handbag structured in an Hermès manner, embellished with Medieval-esque hardware; c.1950s


White structured alligator skin handbag with simple handles embellished with twisted-ring hardware; 1950s


Large black & red velour fabric arm bag with leather handles and strapped enclosures fitted with buckles; c. late 1950s


(3) satin evening bags, in primary colors, fitted with snap enclosures; c. 1960s


Black patent, structured evening bag embellished with a gold mesh figural snake with a jewel encrusted head and tail; stamped “Kenneth Jay Lane for Rosenfeld”; 1960s


White structured ostrich skin, box bag; c. 1960s


Large, pale yellow pressed leather (snake-skin style) arm bag with matching handles embellished with ribbed rings; c. 1960s
